What is a .ODT file?
Everything worth knowing about OpenDocument Text files.
An ODT file is an OpenDocument Text document, the vendor-neutral word-processing format native to LibreOffice Writer and Apache OpenOffice. Microsoft Word opens ODT directly (since Word 2007), and Google Docs handles it via upload. To share with Word-only recipients, save a copy as .docx from any of these programs.

Is my .ODT file uploaded anywhere?
No. Your .ODT file is unpacked for you. The first time, a small open-source unzip component is downloaded and then cached.
Are spreadsheet formulas recalculated?
The viewer shows the values your spreadsheet program saved, and the formula behind each cell when you click it. It doesn't recalculate, so what you see matches the file exactly.
Why do my slides look a little different?
Slides are rebuilt from their text, images and positions. Themes, animations, charts and some shape effects are simplified in the preview.
Can I open a password-protected .ODT file?
Not yet. Encrypted .ODT files are detected, and password support is on our roadmap.
What about .xlsx, .docx and .pptx?
Use the Word Viewer for DOCX and the Spreadsheet Viewer for XLSX and XLS. A PowerPoint viewer is coming soon.
