What is a .APPLICATION file?
The most common data format on the web.
A .application file is a Microsoft ClickOnce deployment manifest - a small signed XML file that tells Windows where to download and launch a .NET program. It is not the program itself. On Windows, double-click it and the ClickOnce runtime fetches and runs the real app from the publisher's server. Treat it with caution: ClickOnce links have been used to distribute malware.
