What is a .EPS file?

Everything worth knowing about Encapsulated PostScript files.

An EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) file is a vector graphic such as a logo, illustration, or print artwork, stored in Adobe's PostScript language since 1987. Open it free with Inkscape or GIMP (both need Ghostscript installed). Microsoft Office has blocked EPS images since April 2017 due to a security vulnerability, so convert EPS to PNG, SVG, or PDF before inserting into Word or PowerPoint.

Is my .EPS file uploaded?

No. Your .EPS file is opened and rendered for you. The first time, a small open-source rendering component is downloaded and then cached.

Why does the first file take a moment?

The first time, your browser downloads the rendering component. After that it's cached, and new .EPS files open in a second or two.

Why are some images shown as grey boxes?

Some .EPS files embed image types the browser can't draw (such as TIFF or JPEG XR). Text, vector graphics and standard PNG and JPEG images are shown normally.

Can I search inside my .EPS file?

Yes, when your .EPS file includes a text layer. Files that are pure scans or drawings without embedded text can't be searched.

Can I convert my .EPS file to PDF?

Not yet in this viewer. You can save any page as an image. A .EPS to PDF converter is on our roadmap.
