What is a .DTX file?
The most common data format on the web.
A DTX file is a Documented LaTeX Source file, the standard format for distributing LaTeX packages on CTAN. To extract the usable .sty or .cls files, run `latex package.ins` with the companion .ins installer file. To just read it, open it in any text editor; it is plain text.
