What is a .BED file?
The most common data format on the web.
A BED file is a Browser Extensible Data file - a plain-text, tab-delimited format that stores chromosome coordinates for genomic features such as genes, ChIP-seq peaks, or repeat elements. Open it in IGV or the UCSC Genome Browser to visualize it, or in any text editor to inspect the raw data. The format is plain text and carries no executable code.
